A 2-km long ropeway over Brahmaputra connecting Guwahati-North Guwahati was opened for public use from August 24.

The ropeway was formally inaugurated by Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in presence of other senior Assam cabinet ministers.

The ropeway is 2-km long and the distance shall be covered in seven minutes with each carriage able to carry 32 passengers at a time.

One way of the ride would cost Rs 60, while a two-way commute would cost Rs 100.

Passengers will be able to avail daily, weekly and monthly passes as well.

The timings of the ropeway will be from 8 am till 6 pm. The entire project has been built at an estimated cost of Rs 56 crore.
