For the second time in his illustrious career, Adil Hussain has said ‘yes’ to a role even before reading the script. If the much-acclaimed ‘Mukti Bhawan’ was the first, ‘Dr Bezbarua 2’ is the latest.

“I’m pretty excited to play the role of Dr Bezbarua. When I was told about this, straightway I said yes even without getting the script. Who would say no to it? This is something; we grew up uttering the dialogues of the film,” said Adil, who will be playing the protagonist.

‘Dr Bezbarua 2’ is the sequel to the famous ‘Dr Bezbarua’ which was released in 1969.

“I was very young when I watched the film after its release. I have got a very blurry memory of Dr Bezbarua. I don’t know the story but I know this is an iconic film. That’s why I said yes to it. I don’t know anything about the role,” Adil told The News Mill.

‘Dr Bezbarua’, directed by Brajen Barua, was the first thriller genre film from Assam. It was a huge commercial success as well. It also won a national award.

Now, after five decades, the sequel will be made under the banner of AM Televisions which will be directed by veteran actor Nipon Goswami who played a crucial role in the 1969 film.

“I’m sure Nipon da will give his best for this film,” Adil, who is currently shooting in Scotland, added.

Though it’s a sequel, the storyline will be fresh with some reference to the earlier one. “It’s a huge challenge for me to write the script for the film. To make a sequel of a big film like ‘Dr Bezbarua’ is not easy. But I have accepted the challenge. It’s a realistic film of the contemporary time. It has several layers. I hope the viewers will get a new taste,” screenwriter Rajdweep told The News Mill.

Rajdweep is a known name with a number of films and plays under his belt including ‘Khel, the Game’, ‘Rum, Vodka, Whiskey’, ‘Pratighat’ and ‘Boliya Krishna’ among others.

The other actors to be featured in the film are Tapan Das, Madhurima Choudhury, Arun Goswami and Siddhartha Nipon Goswami among others.

Producer Sanjive Narain said that they are looking forward to starting the shooting at the earliest.
