Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi on September 7 said that all political parties who are opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) have to unite to fight against the BJP in the coming assembly polls in Assam.

“Every opposing force should unite for the fight against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), 2019,” Gogoi said who has been reportedly suffering from COVID-19 and other ailments. He underwent two tests at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital on September 7.

Akhil Gogoi said that the All Assam Students’ Union forming a political party will not serve a purpose. He added that everyone should participate under a single party, symbol and flag.

He also appealed to the people to continue their fight against CAA.

Gogoi, who has been lodged in jail since last December on charges of being having links with ‘Maoists’, was granted default bail by a National Investigation Agency (NIA) special court recently. But he is still at the Guwahati Central Jail due to another case filed by the Assam police this year related to anti-CAA protests.
