Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will commence its five-day autumn session from November 5, assembly commissioner and secretary Andrew Simons has informed.

The calendar for the session was approved by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) chaired by assembly speaker Metbah Lyngdoh earlier on October 12.

The meeting was attended by deputy chief minister in-charge parliamentary affairs Prestone Tynsong, leader of opposition Mukul Sangma and United Democratic Party (UDP) MLA from Shella assembly constituency Balajied Kupar Synrem.

The speaker said that three days – November 5, 10, and 12 – have been scheduled for government business, while November 9 and 11 have been allotted for private members business.

When asked whether there will be question hour, Lyngdoh said: “Question hour will be there, but I will regulate the timing”.

Moreover, the speaker also informed that COVID-19 protocols will be put in place to ensure the safety of all legislators, officers, and other attendees.
