The COVID-19 tally in Assam continued to move closer to 2 lakh, though the positivity rate has come down since the last fortnight.
The overall COVID-19 tally in the state has reached 1,99,749 with the detection of 767 new cases on October 16, with the positivity rate of 2.21%.
Positivity rate is the rate of samples testing positive from the tests conducted during the day. On October 16, as many as 34714 tests were conducted in the state out of which 767 came positive for the viral infection.
The number of recovered patients has crossed 1.70 lakh, with 931 people being discharged during the day on October 16.
The death toll in the state due to COVID-19 has increased to 853, with the state maintaining a low mortality rate of 0.42%.
The number of active cases is over 28,000 currently.
