Former Union minister and AICC in-charge Manipur, Bhakta Charan Das on October 31 blamed the BJP at the state and the Centre for the widespread COVID-19 infections in the country.

Addressing an election rally in Wangoi assembly constituency in Manipur, the Congress leader said: “When Coronavirus started spreading in China, America and other countries, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on February 12, last cried out to initiate COVID testing in India too, when one Corona positive was detected on January 30 in our country. His clarion call was for the sake of the people of our country. But Modi ignored it. He didn’t take any step into the matter. If he had done it timely, thousands of lives could have been saved.”

Das said the by-elections were held so that BJP can win and start bullying everyone. “Politicians always bow their heads in front of the people. But it is important to see if they are bowing from their heart or not,” he added.

The Congress leader further said there was no remarkable works done by the Biren Singh-led government in these three years.

The BJP leaders only blamed the Congress regime rather than highlighting the achievements of their government, he said.

Bypoll in four constituencies in Manipur will be held on November 7.
