Out of the 89 staff whose swab samples were sent for testing, 10 have tested positive for the viral infection, a senior medical official said, adding that the positive patients have been asked to quarantine themselves.

Following the detection of COVID-19 positive cases, the district magistrate of East Khasi Hills, Isawanda Laloo has directed the State Bank of India Main Branch, to remain closed on October 19 for complete sanitization.

“While on October 20 and 21, the bank shall open only for other essential banking service and no public transactions shall be allowed,” the order specified.

Laloo said the order was issued based on the report received from the incident commander and medical officer in-charge of Zone –III.
