Security forces neutralise NSCN (K-YA) cadre in Arunachal

Security forces have eliminated an NSCN (K-YA) cadre in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh, a Defence spokesperson said on October 18.

“Based on specific input, the security forces launched an operation along with police in general area Wakka. On being challenged, firing was initiated by the insurgents to which troops retaliated. In the ensuing fire fight, the forces eliminated one insurgent on October 17,” Tezpur-based Defence PRO Lt Col Harsh Wardhan Pande said.

Security forces recovered a lathode gun with three live rounds, one .32 pistol with magazine and one round, and a Chinese hand grenade, he said.

The official added that the recovered items were handed over to Longding police station.

“The conduct of the operation displays the highest standards of professionalism and adherence to laid down rules of engagement,” the Defence spokesperson said.
