Meghalaya on October 28 recorded three more COVID-related deaths, including two women, pushing up the number of fatalities to 85.

As many as 90 fresh cases detected during the day took the number of active cases to 1,364, even as 134 more recoveries took the number of recovered persons to 7,777, health officials said.

Director of Health Services (MI), Aman War said that a 61-year-old woman of Kharkutta area in North Garo Hills district died at Civil Hospital, Tura.

While two others, aged 65 and 56, succumbed to the viral infection at North East Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) in Shillong under East Khasi Hills district.

Of the new cases, War said 55 were detected in East Khasi Hills district, 19 in West Garo Hills district, six in West Jaintia Hills district, four each in East Garo Hills district and Ri-Bhoi district and one each in North Garo Hills district and South West Garo Hills district.

Meanwhile, active COVID-19 cases in East Khasi Hills district, including state capital Shillong have declined to 770, even as 85 more patients recovered from the disease in the district.

Meghalaya has so far 9,226 confirmed COVID-19 cases, of which 1,364 are active, 85 deceased and 7,777 recovered. Till date, 1,99,611 persons were tested for COVID-19 infection in the state, of whom 1,90,385 persons tested negative.
