Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has directed the CID to carry on inquiry on the death of journalist Parag Bhuyan.

The journalist, who was associated with Pratidin Time television channel, died under suspicious circumstances after he was hit by a vehicle in front of his home in Kakopathar in Tinsukia district of Assam.

Several organizations, including the media house with which he was associated, suspected foul play and demanded probe.

“Taking note of various allegations regarding the death of senior journalist Parag Bhuyan, CM Shri @sarbanandsonwal has directed a CID inquiry into the matter,” Assam CM’s official twitter handle said on November 12.

Police, meanwhile, have seized the vehicle and arrested the driver and his helper. The driver, identified as James Murha and helper Baba Bordoloi, were held from Namsai in Arunachal Pradesh.
