Assam Cricket Association officials at the Agriculture University ground

In a bid to enhance cricketing activities, Assam Cricket Association (ACA) will develop the ground of Assam Agricultural University (AAU) in its Jorhat campus.

In this regard the cricketing body has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the university.

“ACA will develop a cricket ground in the Jorhat campus of the university wherein three centre wickets along with other cricket facilities would be built so as to enable it to host BCCI and ACA recognised tournaments and matches as well as to host various coaching camps,” said ACA secretary Devajit Saikia.

Assam Cricket Association to invest all funds for development

As per the MoU, Assam Cricket Association would invest all funds for the development of the cricket ground and that the university would allow ACA to utilize its cricket facilities initially for five years, which may be extended later.

“This exercise has been undertaken as part of ACA’s endeavour and project to develop more and more cricket infrastructure across the state to provide better cricket facilities to the budding cricketers which includes students of colleges and universities,” Saikia added.

The MoU was signed by ACA president Romen Dutta and AAU VC Bidyut Chandan Deka in presence of Devajit Saikia, ACA vice president Porikshit Dutta, ACA CEO Sujit Kakati along with dean of AAU’s College of Agriculture Jayanta Deka, AAU registrar Arpan Kumar Saikia and director of students’ welfare of AAU Rana Pratap Bhuyan.
