Facebook has marked Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s post of Silchar airport as ‘false information’.

The video, which Sarma claimed as AIUDF supporters shouting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans, has been verified by independent fact-checkers and found it to be fake. The influential Assam minister had uploaded the video on his social media accounts on November 6.

Several independent fact-checking platforms verified it saying that the supporters of the AIUDF shouted ‘Aziz bhai’ ‘Aziz Khan Zindabad’.

Aziz Khan is the MLA of Karimganj South constituency who was accompanying their party chief Badruddin Ajmal at Silchar Airport.

Apart from Sarma, several local news outlets also carried the news as ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans in Assam.

This incident drew huge reactions in Assam and across the country.

On November 7, Facebook marked the video as false information.
