The horticulture department officials in Agartala on November 5 said that Markfed would collect orange from the growers or the producers can bring their produce to Markfed outlets in different locations of the state.

The Markfed would pay the price as fixed by the government and will do marketing of Tripura oranges both within the state and outside.

“Despite all out efforts, farmers are failed to get the desired prices of oranges grown in the state due to lack of marketing support, which Markfed can facilitate in large extent,” said Markfed chairman Krishnadhan Das adding that it would help the mission of the state government to double the income of farmers as soon as possible.

Besides, Jampui hills of North Tripura, quality oranges are grown in Killa area of Udaipur in Gomati district but the produce is not available in the local market.

Markfed would provide appropriate prices to farmers on one hand and sell the orange in local market at an affordable price in retail market, Das added.
