Arunachal Pradesh on January 14 received its first consignment of 32,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

The 32,000 vials of Covishield vaccine reached at Naharlagun at around 4 pm.

“Three boxes containing 32,000 doses have arrived today. We have already started dispatching to the districts. It will be distributed to all the districts,” an official said.

The vaccines arrived on January 14 morning at Guwahati airport from Pune, and brought to the state by a special vaccine van.

Chief minister Pema Khandu in a tweet wrote: “Received this morning 32,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine, which are being dispatched to the designated vaccine stores across Arunachal Pradesh. State health department is fully geared for the world’s largest vaccination drive to begin from January 16. Thank you Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji.”

Over 23,000 healthcare workers to get COVID-19 vaccine

In the first phase, we shall be covering healthcare workers, the official said. Over 23,000 healthcare workers will be inoculated.

Along with the rest of the country, the vaccination drive in the state will begin on January 16.
