Release of coffee table book - Black Coffee & Metamorphosis

A coffee table book titled ‘Black Coffee & Metamorphosis’ was released at a function in Guwahati recently.

Co-authored by siblings Ankurita Pathak and Ankuran Pathak, the coffee table book is a unique amalgamation of photographs and poetry. The photographs are primarily of landscapes and nature of Northeast India.

A wonderer, adventurer and a lover of life, Ankurita Pathak is an occasional poet and writer. For a living, she works as a joint director at Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).

An engineer by profession, Ankuran Pathak has directed a couple of documentary films on environmental issues. He pursued his engineering from NIT, Bhopal. Staying in Bhopal and his frequent visits to Bharat Bhawan augmented his inclination towards art. He has been working with Pollution Control Board Assam since last 9 years.

‘Black Coffee & Metamorphosis’ is visually and aesthetically very appealing and has poetry that speaks to the soul. The pictures will lift up your mood and the poetry will make you smile with self-discovery.

The book, through its three chapters – Broken Boulevard, Sea of Stories & Lavender Mornings, represents a journey of transformation or metamorphosis from ache to acceptance, struggle to happiness and sense to soul.

The coffee table book was released at a simple function at Café Craft in Silpukhuri, Guwahati on February 21. The evening was resplendent with the presence of dignitaries, poets, musicians and bibliophiles, who were very thrilled with to hold the first few copies of the book.

Professor at IIT Guwahati, Arup Kumar Sharma and chair professor at Ministry of Water Resources, Govt. of India, BP Chaliha, unveiled the hand-painted design used in the cover of Black Coffee & Metamorphosis and symbolically released the book.

Mumbai-based designer of the book, Manashi Crasto, singer Rupam Bhuyan were also present at the occasion.
