Meghalaya government on February 18 further notified the revised taxi fares in state capital Shillong after reducing fuel prices by over Rs 7 in the last few days.

The transport department notified that the “fare for journey by local taxi shall be Rs 26 for the first kilometre or part thereof and Rs 13 for every subsequent kilometre or part thereof.”

The fare for journey by auto rickshaw shall be Rs 14 for the first kilometre or part thereof and Rs 6 for every subsequent kilometre or part thereof.

“The charges for detaining a local taxi shall be Rs 7 for every five minutes or part thereof. The charges for detaining an auto rickshaw shall be Rs 6 for every five minutes or part thereof,” the Meghalaya transport department specified.
