Assam minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma mocked the Congress party for publishing a photo of a tea garden in Taiwan as part of its “Axom Basaon Ahok” campaign.

Mocking at the Congress party and its ongoing campaign “Axom Basaon Ahok”, Sarma shared a picture in his Twitter handle claiming the official Congress campaign page is using a photo of tea garden from Taiwan to say “Assam Bachao”.

“Official Congress campaign page is using photo of tea garden from Taiwan to say “Assam Bachao”. Congress leaders can’t even recognize Assam? This is an insult of Assam and Tea Garden workers of our state,” the BJP leader tweeted.

The photograph was shared by the Assam Bachao Facebook page as part of an advertisement campaign on February 26. Less than Rs 100 was spent on this particular advertisement which gathered less than 1000 impressions. The advertisement was inactive when last checked.

The Congress party’s election campaign in Assam is being managed by Punjab-based company DesignBoxed along with members of the political party.

Earlier, Himanta Biswa Sarma on March 2 had mocked Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra by calling her a tourist visiting the state as she cannot roam freely in Delhi because of COVID-19 cases there.

“This is an ideal time to promote Assam as a tourist destination as Assam is the only state in India where you can roam freely without wearing a mask. See, how you all are not wearing one. They (Priyanka Gandhi and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal) cannot roam freely in Delhi without a mask, so they want to come to Assam,” Sarma had said.
