A 39-year-old journalist, Tanmoy Chakraborty, working with a local digital organization, passed away due to COVID-19 at a private hospital in Agartala on April 25 night.
Chakraborty had comorbid conditions for the past many years but after getting infected with COVID-19, his health deteriorated.
Although he had a serious ailment, Tanmoy Chakraborty was an active working journalist of the state for past one and half decades.
Three days ago, Chakraborty was discharged from the COVID hospital but after reaching home, he had developed respiratory complications. At night, he had been shifted to a private hospital and soon after he was put on ventilation. Tanmoy breathed his last night around 8:20 pm on April 25.
Chakraborty is survived by his parents, wife and a five-year-old daughter.
Chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced that the state government would bear all his hospital expenses following a request from the media fraternity. Deb expressed condolence to the bereaved family and assured to stand with them.
