Within hours of Assam Police posting screenshots of a video showing a young girl being sexually tortured and assaulted by five persons that went viral, Bengaluru Police on May 27 nabbed four persons in connection with the case, claiming that all of them were natives of Bangladesh.

The police at Ramamurthy Nagar in Bengaluru said in a statement that the video was shot around 10 days ago, and the five men, believed to be Bangladeshis, were involved in an international human trafficking racket.

While the police have not revealed their names yet, an officer said that all the four accused had brutally assaulted the 21-year-old woman after raping her.

A video of the incident was being circulated in the social media with netizens, especially from the Northeast region, calling for strict action. Police in Assam and Meghalaya, among others, started investigating the video.
