A day after taking oath as chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma visited proprietor of Pratidin Group, Jayanta Baruah at his residence in Guwahati on May 11.

Sarma arrived at Baruah’s Geetanagar residence at around 9 am and spent around 45 minutes.

“I came to seek blessings from Jayanta Baruah. We grew up together at Gandhibasti in Guwahati… So, we are like family,” Sarma told reporters after their meeting.

“All of us have different responsibilities but for a larger perspective of development we all have to work together with a positive frame of mind,” the chief minister added.

Jayanta Baruah, whose news outlets are known to be among the fiercest critics of Sarma, said that Assam has got a young, dynamic and hard-working chief minister.

“Yesterday (May 10) Assam got a young, dynamic and hard-working chief minister. We have known each other since our childhood days. We discussed on certain things on how everyone can work together in a positive way to bring the state forward. We also need to support to him during his tenure in the next five years,” said Baruah.

“I wish him good luck,” he added.
