Total lockdown restrictions in several districts of Arunachal Pradesh will be lifted from June 7 onwards.
The state government on June 5 said that lockdown restrictions in Itanagar Capital Complex, Lower Subansiri, Namsai, Lohit and Anjaw districts will be lifted from 5 am on June 7.
The restrictions were imposed in the districts to contain the spread of COVID-19.
However, the Arunachal government decided to extend lockdown in Tawang and Upper Subansiri districts till 5 am on June 12.
The decision in this regard was taken at the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) meeting chaired by chief minister Pema Khandu via video conferencing to review COVID-19 situation in the state.
“Containment (lockdown) to be lifted from 0500 hours on June 7 (Monday) in ICR, Lower Subansiri, Namsai, Lohit and Anjaw districts. The districts to be under micro containment measures as needed. Containment to be extended in Tawang and Upper Subansiri,” Khandu wrote in a social media post.
“We are witnessing encouraging results of the surveillance and containment measures undertaken so far. However, we must continue to maintain extreme caution,” Khandu asserted.
It was also decided that to prevent spread of infection, vaccination in urban areas must be only through online or offsite registration for 18-plus category.
Arunachal Pradesh on June 5 reported 327 fresh cases of COVID-19 while 402 patients were discharged after they recovered from the viral infection. The state Directorate of Health Services reported 3753 active cases of COVID-19 on June 5.
