The positivity rate of COVID-19 dropped to 3.26 per cent in Assam on June 5 with the state reporting 3,781 fresh cases out of more than 1.15 lakh tests done in the last 24 hours.

According to health minister Keshab Mahanta, the state detected 3781 positive cases of COVID-19 during the day out of 1,15,968 tests. Out of these, Kamrup Metro, which comprises the main city of Guwahati, reported 276 cases.

Meanwhile, 44 patients died of COVID-19 in the state in the past 24 hours.

Assam has been witnessing a surge in COVID-19 cases since early April. In the past few days, the curve has shown a slight dip even as several restrictions on movement of people are being enforced.

Assam on June 4 reported 4,548 fresh cases of COVID-19. As many as 4,263 patients were discharged during the day after they recovered from the viral infection. The state had 50,765 active cases.
