“She has set a milestone for all of us and proved to be an excellent inspiration for me as well as all those who are interested in further studies and sees a future in research,” Mein posted on Facebook.

Ering pursued her BTech in civil engineering from North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) at Nirjuli in Arunachal. She did her master’s degree from prestigious IISc, Bangalore in geotechnical engineering, following which she took up the position of assistant professor at Tezpur University and worked there for a year before deciding to pursue her PhD in IISc Bangalore.

She recently completed her PhD and has been offered an assistant professor post in IIT Bombay, Mein said.

“It is with much pride I would like to bring to everyone’s attention the significance of her achievement,” the deputy CM added.
