Nagaland government is constructing a 200-bed acute care facility at Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) at Dimapur.
The acute healthcare facility at CIHSR is being constructed by the state government at a cost of Rs 30 crore.
“We are also in the process of setting up a 200-bed acute care facility at the CIHSR campus on a war footing,” health minister S Pangnyu Phom told reporters in Kohima on June 4.
The facility will be based on a pre-fabricated structure and will be used even after the COVID-19 situation improves, the minister said. He added that this will be an additional medical asset for the people of Nagaland.
Principal secretary of health and family welfare department, Amardeep S Bhatia said the hospital is being created as the concept of a makeshift or field hospital was not considered suitable and a temporary facility could not be put to future use.
Accordingly, the state government decided to approve the proposal for a pre-fabricated hospital with modern acute care facilities. The official added that the CIHSR campus was selected as a venue because of availability of land and also to converge the human resources already available with CIHSR Dimapur.
