CM Sarma met injured police personnel at Silchar Medical College & Hospital

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted a video allegedly showing Mizoram cops and locals celebrating “after killing 5 Assam police personnel and injuring many” and termed the same as sad and horrific.

Sarma re-uploaded a social media live video, which showed several locals along with cops “high five”. TheNewsMill could not independently verify the time and location of the video.

“This is how Mizoram police and goons are celebrating – sad and horrific,” the Assam chief minister tweeted.

On July 26, in a horrific turn of events at the Assam-Mizoram border, violent clashes broke out which led to firing and death of six policemen from Assam. Several others were injured in the incident.

Late night on July 26, CM Sarma tweeted that the Mizoram Police used Light Machine Guns against the Assam Police personnel. “Clear evidences are now beginning to emerge that unfortunately show that Mizoram Police has used Light Machine Guns (LMG) against personnel of @assampolice. This is sad, unfortunate and speaks volumes about the intention and gravity of the situation,” he tweeted.

On July 27, Sarma met injured police personnel at Silchar Medical College & Hospital in Silchar and took stock of their condition. Sarma directed the doctors to ensure best treatment to the injured police personnel. He asked to send seriously-injured personnel for higher level treatment by air ambulance on priority.
