Tezu in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh was connected with Guwahati in Assam through a direct flight service from August 19.
The maiden flight, operated by scheduled commuter airline, Flybig, landed at Tezu on August 19.
Chief minister Pema Khandu virtually flagged-off the maiden flight from Tezu along with Sanjay Mandavia, president at Flybig. The inaugural ceremony at Tezu was attended by state civil aviation and tourism minister Nakap Nalo and Arunachal East MP Tapir Gao.
Khandu said this is another feather in the cap of aviation sector in the region. “Operationalization of the Tezu airport will boost connectivity of eastern Arunachal that will facilitate easy and fast accessibility to economical activities, business and health services to the people,” CM Khandu said.
The scheduled commuter airline will operate on the Guwahati-Tezu route with a frequency of four flights per week – on every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
The launch fares start from Rs 1199 making it possible for a larger number of people to travel by flight. With Guwahati–Tezu route, Flybig has established air connectivity in 10 out of 16 routes in the Northeast under UDAN-RCS scheme.
Flybig announces special fare of Rs 75 for army officers
Commemorating India’s 75th Independence Day, Flybig is offering a special fare of Rs 75 to army officers, their immediate family members and senior citizens, honouring their exemplary service to the nation. The offer is valid on Tezu-Guwahati and Guwahati-Pasighat flights for travelling till December 2021.
As per the overall business plan, Flybig has on boarded a strategic investor in India. This partnership will play a key role in maximizing their fleet expansion, stated a press release from the scheduled commuter airline.
In order to reinforce its network, the airline is introducing 2 new aircraft to its fleet in September and another 2 in October making a total of 5 operational aircraft by the end of 2021. The new planes will be stationed at Guwahati and Indore hub.
Besides Tezu, Flybig operates flights to Indore, Bhopal, Raipur, Kolkata, Guwahati, Rupsi, Dibrugarh, Pasighat and Agartala. It also offers charter services from Delhi to Shillong.
