At least four minor boys were reportedly drowned in Brahmaputra river in Guwahati on September 26.

The recue and search teams of NDRF, SDRF, fire service and police have recovered three bodies from the river so far and one of them was still missing till the time of filing this report.

The incident took place at Pandughat area in Guwahati.

According to the reports, four Class 8 students of Pandu area went to Pandughat area for swimming in Brahmaputra river.

The family members said that, all four friends came out from their homes at around 6:30 am on September 26 for their tuition and when they did not return home till noon the family members informed police.

During the time, some locals informed the family members that, the students went to Pandughat as one among them posted some photographs and videos on his social media account.

Immediately, locals, family members and police rushed to the spot and rescue teams of NDRF, SDRF and fire and emergency services also reached.

A top police official said that, three bodies have been recovered so far and one among the four students was still missing.

“NDRF, SDRF and fire & emergency services teams are engaged in search and rescue operation to find out the fourth boy,” the police officer said.
