Award-winning Assamese film, ‘Aamis’ has now been released on popular OTT platform SonyLIV.

Directed by Bhaskar Hazarika, ‘Aamis’ explores passion, cravings, desires and morals, until it all blends into a dangerous, thrilling cocktail. Winning awards at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, and the South Asian International Film Festival in Singapore, Aamis is now available on SonyLIV.

Set in Guwahati, the film traces the story of Nirmali (Lima Das), a married doctor, who meets Sumon (Arghadeep Barua), a young PhD student researching on food eating habits in Northeast India. Slowly a friendship develops and Sumon initiates Nirmali into learning about it too. Revolving around the theme of forbidden love and the limits of one’s hunger, the darkest desires of Nirmali and Sumon’s relationship come into the forefront. But how far can one go to feed their burning desire?  Where do you draw the line? Or do you, at all?

Produced by Poonam Deol and Shyam Bora, ‘Aamis’ stars Lima Das and Arghadeep Baruah in the lead, supported by Neetali Das, Sagar Saurabh, and Manash K Das in prominent roles.

A dark love story, ‘Aamis’ was written and directed by filmmaker Bhaskar Hazarika, whose first film Kothanodi received the National Award in 2016.

The film was earlier screened at the Guwahati International Film Festival, 2019 where it drew a huge response. The film was later released in theatres where it ran houseful shows.
