Police arrested a 21-year-old youth in connection with a gangrape case following a complaint lodged by the survivor after she discovered that her nude photograph was being circulated online, in Assam’s Dibrugarh district.

Dibrugarh Police were looking for two others for their involvement in the alleged gangrape incident.

A case has been registered at Barbaruah police station under various sections of IPC and relevant sections of IT Act.

Dibrugarh district Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Bipul Chetia said that the incident happened a few months back and police have come to know about the incident after the complaint lodged by the survivor.

“According to the complaint lodged by the survivor, she was on her way to college with the prime accused on a scooty. The two-wheeler had some problems and the prime accused called his brother-in-law and took the her in a car. During the ride, she allegedly drank a sedative-laced drink which was offered to her and she fell unconscious. Later she found herself at a house where her collegemate and another youth were present,” ASP Bipul Chetia said.

The police officer further said that the survivor had no knowledge of the assault as she was unconscious.

“She suspects that, her collegemate and two others raped her and clicked nude photos of her. Following the complaint, we arrested the collegemate of the girl. We have sent her for medical examination and recorded her statement. We are looking for the two other accused persons and both are now absconding,” the police officer said.
