Police on October 1 recovered a huge quantity of explosive substances and devices from a vehicle in Assam’s main city of Guwahati.

Police also apprehended two persons in connection with it.

On October 1 morning, at around 5:30 am, a patrol party from Gorchuk police station in Guwahati interdicted a pickup van travelling at high speed from Lakhra Chariali towards Boragaon.

A top police officer said that the patrol party chased and managed to stop the vehicle at Garchuk Chariali and on searching the vehicle they found a huge quantity of explosive substances.

The cops recovered 4660 pieces of gelatin sticks and 2300 electric detonators from the vehicle.

The driver and another occupant of the vehicle were apprehended and brought to the police station along with the vehicle and the bags of explosives.

The apprehended persons were identified as Ainal Ali and Rahim Badsha and both are hailing from Bongaigaon district.

They were supposedly travelling from Meghalaya and headed towards Rani.
