India’s ambassador to Myanmar, Saurabh Kumar, will take over as the new secretary (east) in the ministry of external affairs after the superannuation of Riva Ganguly Das on December 31 this year.

The official order read: “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri Saurabh Kumar, (IFS:89), Ambassador of India, Yangon as Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs vice Ms. Riva Ganguly Das (IFS:86) upon her superannuation on 31.12.2021.”

Earlier, on November 15, Vinay Kumar, presently additional secretary in the ministry of external affairs, was appointed as the next ambassador of India to Myanmar.

Vinay Kumar is an IFS of 1992 batch.
