Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh said that the “people of the state are filled with enormous talents and they need to harness the talent to bring inclusive development in the state”.

Biren Singh said this on December 21 while speaking at the closing session of “Two-day discourse on the present status of Manipur economy: Opportunities and challenges” held at the Centenary Hall of Manipur University at Canchipur in Imphal.

Chief minister N Biren Singh said that although Manipur is a tiny state, it has topped in MSME business registration among the small states of the country. He further said that more than one lakh individuals are being employed in the MSME sector.

The chief minister maintained that the ‘self-help groups’ (SHGs) of the hill districts are expanding their businesses under TRIFED. He added that around 40 thousand people are being employed under the Van Dhan Vikas Karyakram of TRIFED.

Maintaining about the Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the chief minister stressed that the state government has implemented various welfare schemes towards achieving self-reliance in various sectors such as fishery etc. He then claimed that there is visible positive development in the state in the last four and half years.

The flagship schemes and programs have been successfully implemented at the grassroots, he added.

The December 21’s event was organised by the Economic and Resource Development Organisation and Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, Manipur University.
