Sikkim chief minister PS Tamang has called on the people to adopt tourism as a profession and start homestays to uplift the rural economy.

Addressing a public function in Tumin -Lingee constituency, the chief minister said that tourism has a lot of potential for the state.

He advised the people to start homestays for uplifting their economic condition.

During the function, minister Samdup Tshering, representing the area, presented a memorandum of demands to the chief minister.

“I accepted their requests including the construction of roads, Ram Dham, multipurpose hall, a model school, and some other infrastructure. Will be looking soon into all the proposals,” the chief minister later said in Gangtok on December 22.

He stressed that the SKM government operates without any discrimination. “It is proved by many people joining the party deserting other parties,” he said.

Chief minister PS Tamang expressed hope that the constituency will vote for his party in 2024, being king makers. The chief minister was accompanied by tourism minister BS Panth.
