Guwahati City Football Club (GCFC) will play its first match against the ARA FC in the Indian Women’s League (IWL) qualifiers on April 1 at the Dr Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi.

Guwahati City FC is the first-ever club from Assam to play in the qualifiers of the top division women’s football of the country.

The team played a warmup match against Delhi State League Club KKM Sangam Vihar FC on March 30 where the Guwahati-based club won 1-0.

The young team have some notable players like forward Sonia Marak (top scorer for Assam in the senior nationals), defenders Bhabani Kumari, Binita Boro, Mallika Mondal etc. The average age of the team is 18 years.

The head coach of Guwahati City FC women’s team is Bidhan Das who is assisted by Mizo C-Licensed coach R Lalnunsangi and goalkeeper coach Bitu Das. Team manager is Kaustab Chakraborty and Tandra Dey is the team physio.

Guwahati City FC squad for the IWL qualifiers: Mallika Mandal, Sushma Kachap, Dulu Moni Das, Binita Boro, Punam Kumari Boro, Oma Ingti, Rosmi Basumatary, Sonam Dutta, Sima Das, Silvia Konwar, Sabita Rabha, Puja Saikia, Sweety Bora, Mainow Bora, Hina Baro, Kalyani Das, Sonia Marak, Silpi Sikha Rabha, Bhabani Kumar, Krishnangni Rabha, Madhusmita Boro and Saloni.
