BJP’s central observers, to elect the leader of its legislature party, are likely to arrive in Imphal on March 15 or the next day, a source close to the party said.
The source also said that the parliamentary board of the party has appointed central observers and co-observers for the elections of the leader of the legislature party in the five states where elections were held recently.
The board has appointed Union minister of finance, Nirmala Sitharaman as observer and Union minister of law and justice, Kiren Rijiju, as co-observer for Manipur, it added.
Meanwhile, caretaker chief minister N Biren Singh said that a meeting to elect the leader of BJP’s legislature party will be convened after the visit of the central observers. He also said that the government formation is being delayed while following the formalities.
Talking to reporters after the oath-taking of the new members, the caretaker chief minister said that he was happy to see more women representatives in the Manipur assembly.
