Assam’s Amlan Borgohain breaks national record

Amlan Borgohain of Assam clocked 20.52s in the 200m men’s finals and created a new national record in the ongoing 25th National Federation Cup senior athletics competition in Calicut, Kerala on April 6.

The previous record was held by Md Anas at Jablonec nad Nisou in the Czech Republic with 20.63s on August 15 in 2018.

Another Assam sprinter Hima Das won gold in 200m in a tough fight with Aishwarya Kaila Mishra. Hima clocked 23.63s while Aishwarya clocked 23.64s to come first and second.

Aishwarya won the gold of 400m on day 2 of the Fed Cup with 51.18s which was the fifth-best time by an Indian woman and a meet record.

Assam sports minister Bimal Bora among others has congratulated both the players for the achievement.
