A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was injured after smugglers pelted stones at the patrolling team in South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.

Sources said that the smugglers from India’s side were trying to smuggle cosmetics and other items across the international border with Bangladesh.

The incident took place on April 9, sources added.

The miscreants started pelting stones incessantly on BSF troops on observing the patrol party thus causing serious injury to one jawan.

“Despite serious injury caused, the security forces has shown utmost restraint and respect for human lives by not resorting to firing, but tactfully managed to foil the smuggling attempt of miscreants. The presence of mind and valiant act of the troops has once again foiled the ill intention of cross border smugglers,” sources further added.
