Rajasthan Royals beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 29 runs in an Indian Premier League match on April 26. Riyan Parag smashed a match-defining unbeaten half-century before the bowling unit played up to its name.

With his undefeated half-century, Assam cricketer Riyan Parag (56 not out off 31 balls) single-handedly guided his team to 144 for 8. This was his highest score in the IPL. During his innings, he hit three boundaries and four sixes.

After being called in to bat, Riyan Parag marshalled the RR lower-order excellently and blasted Harshal Patel for a boundary and two enormous sixes in the final over to lift RR to a respectable score.

RR bowlers, led by young Kuldeep Sen (4/20), Ravichandran Ashwin (3/17), and Prasidh Krishna (2/23), cleaned out RCB for 115 in 19.3 overs, thus ending the pursuit.

Virat Kohli began his innings cautiously after two consecutive first-ball ducks, but he lit up the stadium and increased the hopes of his fans when he blasted two back-to-back boundaries of Trent Boult to begin his innings.

Kohli flopped again in the next over, as has been the case throughout the tournament, when a Prasidh Krishna bouncer got the better of him. Riyan Parag, the Rajasthan Royals’ man of the moment, took the catch.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore’s woes were exacerbated in the seventh over, when Kuldeep Sen, who had replaced Obed McCoy in the playing XI, took two crucial wickets with successive balls, captain Faf du Plessis (23) and Glenn Maxwell (0).

Face-off between Riyan Parag and Harshal Patel

Riyan Parag of Rajasthan Royals and Harshal Patel of Royal Challengers Bangalore had a heated exchange of words after the former blasted the RCB pacer for 18 runs in the penultimate over to take his side to a manageable total of 144 for 8 on April 26.

Parag, who hit Patel for a boundary and two enormous sixes in the final over to help RR to a respectable total after being brought in to bat, played an undefeated 56-run knock off 31 balls.

After Riyan Parag clobbered a Patel delivery over the deep mid-wicket boundary, the two players had a heated altercation, forcing one of the RR players to calm the bowler down.

As they walked off the field, a few players from both teams exchanged some comments.
