Trinamool Congress emerging as an alternative in Assam: Ripun Bora

Newly-appointed Assam unit president of the Trinamool Congress, Ripun Bora, on April 25 said that the Congress party is fast losing its relevance in Assam and across the country.

“This (decline of the Congress party) is happening not only in Assam, but across the country,” said Ripun Bora.

Bora was welcomed by the TMC supporters after he landed in Guwahati on April 25.

Speaking to journalists, Bora said that the Trinamool Congress is emerging as an alternative.

“The way in which Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has stopped BJP in West Bengal and fights against BJP, the people of Assam also want TMC. I am very much confident that the TMC will become the alternative to BJP in Assam in the coming days,” Ripun Bora was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

“What I have to do right now is to raise TMC here. It will form government in Tripura in 2023 and Assam in 2026,” he said.

The former Assam state Congress chief who joined TMC on April 18 also participated in a “Padyatra” followed by a bike rally in Guwahati on April 25.
