At least seven people died and many others were wounded in two different road accidents in Assam on May 24.

According to the police, at least five people were killed and three others were injured when a speeding truck hit them in the Darrang district on May 24 morning.

At the same time, two people were killed and several others were injured at Hatibondha in Kaliabor in Nagaon district. Both the incidents took place on the same day.

The victims of the Darrang accident were reportedly out for a stroll in the morning when the incident occurred on NH-15 near Sipajhar College Chowk, according to the Assam Police.

Those who were wounded were sent to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital in Guwahati for treatment.

The vehicle reportedly lost control, ran over many persons, and then collided with a tree, as reported by the police. After the crash, both the vehicle’s driver and the helper ran away from the scene.

In Nagaon, a head-on collision between an auto-rickshaw and a cargo carrier resulted in the death of two persons while many others were injured.
