Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma on May 12 convened a coordination committee meeting of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA).
Sangma told reporters that the idea of the meeting was to bring legislators and leaders of the coalition partners together to discuss many issues concerning the state.
He said the coalition partners had some concerns about the boundary issue while informing: “We have accordingly given them clarification on the border issue and we have always clarified to them even at an unofficial level also.”
The Meghalaya chief minister however said none of the coalition partners had suggested the need to review the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Meghalaya and Assam for resolving the six of the 12 areas of difference.
“Nobody has said that they wanted to revisit the MoU,” he added.
Sangma further informed that the meeting also discussed the issue related to the Common University Entrance Test (CUET).
“While we were in the meeting, the letter from the Union education minister also came in so it was good timing for us in one way. The Union education minister had specifically mentioned that the other colleges can continue with their admission on the basis of how they used to do before, which means CUET will not have to be taken,” he said.
