Manipur police commandos on May 27 arrested two alleged drug peddlers after a short pursuit and recovered 502 gram of heroin powder.

Police commandos in Kakching district on frisking and checking at Sugnu Khongnang Makhong under Sugnu police station signalled two individuals coming on a bike to stop at around 12.20 pm on May 27, according to police.

However, the duo tried to evade police checks by speeding up their bike. The police commandos chased after them and overpowered after a short pursuit, the police added.

Upon checking, the police commandos detected 40 soap cases containing suspected heroin powder in a bag they carried.

The total weight of the contraband drug was found to be 502 gram excluding the weight of the soap cases, the police said.

The police further identified the arrested alleged drug peddlers as Mangmuanlian and Thangguanlian Zou. Both of them are from Chandel district, according to police.

The two arrested alleged drug peddlers along with the seized drugs were handed over to Sugnu police station for further necessary action, police added.
