Assam BJP legislator from Lumding constituency, Sibu Misra, has sparked outrage when a video of him piggybacking on a flooded street to assess the flood condition in his neighbourhood went viral on the social media.
Netizens accused him of being “insensitive”, especially at a time when Assam is dealing with pre-monsoon floods that have displaced thousands of people.
Misra was seen in the video being carried on the shoulders of a person to a boat that was only a few feet away, in barely knee-deep water.

Misra was bashed by the internet, who said he was abusing his position by riding on the backs of the victims. On this matter, the opposition attacked the governing party representative.
Misra, on the other hand, pretended to be ill, and said that the person offered to take him to the boat.
