After the success of ‘Local Utpaat’ yet another Assamese film ‘Emuthi Puthi – a fishy trip’ has hit the theatres all across Assam on June 17.

The film is directed by debutant Kulanandini Mahanta and produced by Metanormal and Ruhaan Films in association with The Vibe Studio, and it was shot completely on an iPhone.

‘Emuthi Puthi’ is written by the national award-winning filmmaker Bhaskar Hazarika who is well-known for his much-acclaimed previous ventures, ‘Kothanodi’ and ‘Aamis’.

The movie features Pratibha Choudhury, Neetali Das and Srishti Sharma in the leading roles with a supporting cast of Kenny Basumatary, Chumki Kachari, Monalisa Bhuyan, and Rubul Boro among others.

‘Emuthi Puthi – a very fishy trip’ is a film about a rebellious teenager who sets on a journey with her eccentric grandmother in search of a mystical fish by eloping from home in the middle of the night; chased by a policewoman who also happens to be the mother of the teenager and daughter of grandmother.

The story takes turns dealing with complex human emotions.

Director Kulanandini Mahanta just ahead of the release said, “I have no words to express right now. I hope the viewers will enjoy watching this movie as much as we have enjoyed making it.”

The film will also be premiered at the London Indian Film Festival on June 28.

Bhaskar Hazarika, writer of ‘Emuthi Puthi’ said: “We wanted to do a comedy since the previous films were pretty dark. We felt the viewers will be able to relate more to this story and have fun watching it. It is a nice clean family comedy. My favourite scenes in the movie were the parts where there were comic reliefs between the intensely emotional scenes.”
