Assam on July 4 reported 161 fresh COVID-19 cases, the highest spike in daily cases since February 14.

According to the National Health Mission (NHM), Assam recorded 161 new cases of COVID-19, which is the highest number in almost five months.

On February 14, the state reported 198 instances of the coronavirus infection.

According to the daily report, a total of 161 COVID-19 patients were identified throughout the state on July 4 after analysing 1,631 samples. The positivity rate 9.87 per cent is also on the higher side.

The Kamrup Metro district, which comprises the main city of Guwahati, accounted for 90 of the fresh cases, followed by Kamrup with 24 and Dibrugarh with 11.

Within the last 24 hours, there has not been a single fatality that may be attributed to the virus.

A total of 7,25,271 cases of COVID-19 were reported in the state since 2020.

At the moment, there are 710 cases of COVID-19 that are still being treated throughout the state.
