AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal is seen with a group of priests at the Shiva temple in Cachar district

Assam BJP on July 8 challenged AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal to follow Hindu rituals to prove his statement right. Ajmal on July 7 had claimed that his forefathers were Hindus which created an uproar on social media.

Assam BJP spokesperson Ranjib Kumar Sarma said that if the AIUDF chief is just trying to grab the headlines and create sensationalism, it will not be welcomed.

“He (Ajmal) is a symbol of foreign culture. We haven’t seen him practising Hinduism. Let him follow the Hindu rituals of life if he really means that his forefathers were Hindus. Let him remember his forefathers with the rituals of Hinduism (Pinda daan and shraddha),” said Sarma said.

Sarma urged Ajmal to visit the Aswalkanta temple situated in North Guwahati within 24 hours to perform shraddha and other rituals.

Earlier, Badruddin Ajmal was seen visiting a Shiva temple in Assam’s Cachar district and had lunch with priests and temple committee members.
