One arrested for possessing drugs in Meghalaya

A 25-year-old man was arrested from Laitkor Rngi in Meghalaya on July 10 on charges of possessing heroin.

Superintendent of police (city), Vivek Syiem informed that based on input received from West Garo Hills police who had ascertained the sender of drugs seized in Tura, the East Khasi Hills ANTF team along with Madanrting police raided the residence of Bryan Nongmor, 25 years of Laitkor Rngi.

The police team recovered 10 empty tobacco tins, one tobacco tin containing heroin weighing 0.69 grams, one soap box containing a heat-sealed packet containing 3.74 grams of heroin and one mobile phone, the police officer added.

He said the total heroin seized was 4.43 gm.

A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at the Madanrting police station, the police officer further informed.
