Artist Rahul Pareek with Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked Rahul Pareek, a self-taught artist who gifted him a portrait which the artist created using electronic wastes.

Rahul Pareek, a commerce graduate of the state created a portrait of Sarma using mobile phone wastes. His creation touched the chief minister who apart from thanking the artist asked him to take his creative art to a larger canvas.

As Rahul informed the chief minister that he is making a portrait of Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika using electronic wastes, Sarma asked him to display it at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra during the maestro’s birthday in September.

The chief minister said that the artist’s creation is a lesson for young generation to use environmentally hazardous items for productive purposes.

Earlier, Rahul Pareek had created portrait of cricketer Virat Kohli, film actor Akshay Kumar and many others. He gifted a similar portrait to Virat Kohli when team India was in Guwahati.

Rahul had also created a portrait of former Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and gifted him.

He had earlier crafted a ‘painting’ with similar products to pay his respects to the Indian army jawans who lost their lives at Galwan.
