Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on August 28 announced that the state government will reimburse the application costs for those candidates who do not qualify for the current recruitment examinations for Grade III and Grade IV positions in the state.

Approximately 14 lakh people have signed up to take the tests, which will determine who would fill approximately 30,000 Grade III and Grade IV positions in various government departments in Assam.

The first and second rounds of the examination took place on August 21 and August 28 amid tight security. Mobile internet services were banned across 25 districts of Assam during the examination days to stop any “untoward incident”.

The last examination will take place on September 11.

Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told the media that “the examinations are being performed without a difficulty at all locations across the state”. There have been no reports of allegations of improper conduct in connection with the examination.

“We will make every effort to make the result announcement within the next month. And those applicants who do not qualify will have their examination fees refunded. The payments would be refunded to the applicants’ individual bank accounts,” the chief minister stated further.
