Indian Lawn Bowl team has won gold medal in the Commonwealth Games on August 2. The team members are Lovely Choubey, Pinki, Nayanmoni Saikia and Rupa Rani Tirkey.

Nayanmoni Saikia hails from Assam. This is the first-ever gold in this game in Commonwealth Games for India.

Absolutely ecstatic that our Women’s Fours Team – Lovely Choubey, Pinki, Nayanmoni Saikia & Rupa Rani Tirkey has fetched the nation its first ever #LawnBowls medal defeating South Africa 17-10 in the final!” tweeted India’s sports minister Anurag Thakur.

They beat South Africa 17-10 in the final. India had defeated New Zealand in the semifinal.

“Another gold medal for India at #CommonwealthGames. Congratulations to Assam’s Nayanmoni Saikia and her team members who created history by winning the first-ever medal for India in Lawn Bowls (Women’s Fours) in #CWG. Proud,” said Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet.
